Hawk Highlights
Roger Williams wasted little time building their advantage in doubles action. The topflight saw
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and
Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) blank Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Nick Bell (Haverhill, Mass.), 8-0 while the matchup at #3 doubles between the pairing of
Zak Siddiqui (Huntington, N.Y.) and
Jake Bernard (Redding, Conn.) and the duo of David Monteiro (Fall River, Mass.) and Grant Palmer (Charlotte, N.C.) saw the same result. The closest match in doubles play, and as it turned out, the closest match of the day was in the second flight of doubles where
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) took care of Kevin Meade (Milton, Mass.) and Tim O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.), 8-3.
Singles play was much of the same as RWU rolled, dropping just three of the combined 75 sets. Trevethan handled Russo, 6-0, 6-1 in the topflight. In #2 singles Tocco shutout Bell, 6-0, 6-0.
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) bested Meade 6-0, 6-1 in the third flight while Schuck beat O'Brien by the same score in #4 singles. The Hawks employed fresh legs at #5 and #6 singles, going with the veterans,
Arlex Correa (Lynnfield, Mass.) and
Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) respectively. In those matches, they had little trouble as they blanked Monteiro and Palmer respectively, 6-0, 6-0.
