NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –The Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team competed at the Corsair Classic, hosted by UMass-Dartmouth, taking seventh place as a team on Saturday.
Brooke Dutton (Coventry, Conn.) starred for the Hawks in the throwing events, collecting the top finish in the discus throw with a New England Championships-qualifying toss, while also claiming fifth in the hammer throw.
The event was the first meet that RWU has competed at this season where team scores have been recorded as they took seventh out of 12 teams competing on the day, posting a team score of 47. The top-three finishing schools were Bridgewater State, with 193 points, Coast Guard with 138, and Eastern Connecticut State with 83.
The Hawks performed extremely well in the throwing events as in addition to Dutton's pair of top-five showings,
Sami Brody (Clinton, Mass.) grabbed fifth in the Javelin throw. Also among the field events was the pole vault that saw
Shirah Strock (Castleton, N.Y.) take third by clearing 2.80 meters.
RWU did not fare as well on the track on this day as their lone top-five finisher was
Amanda Naylor (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the 5K.
