CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In their final tune-up before the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, the Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team found success as ten different athletes set new PRs at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.
Caitlin Boufford (Londonderry, N.H.) lead the charge for the Hawks and lead the pack in the 3000-meter steeplechase to claim first in the event.
While no team scores were kept at the invitational, RWU still performed well as, combined between the men's and women's teams, 22 different student-athletes set personal bests across 25 events. No team scores were recorded at the meet, however.
Both
Shirah Strock (Castleton, N.Y.) and
Tasha Strock (Castleton, N.Y.) continued their outstanding seasons with one top-five finish each, Shirah in the Pole Vault and Tasha in the Triple Jump. They were also members of the 4x100m relay team along with
Lara Kester (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Kimberly Lajoie (Pawtucket, R.I.) that had the Hawks top relay finish, taking fourth.
Rounding out the top-five finishers for Roger Williams was
Brooke Dutton (Coventry, Conn.) who claimed third in the javelin throw.
