How It Happened
The first quarter saw both sides battle back and forth while trading scores. Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) tacked on the first goal of the game two minutes in before Babson's Amelia Novitch (Dover, Mass.) answered with a goal two minutes later. Nikki Norton (Braintree, Mass.) regained the lead for the Hawks with a goal, but a player-up goal by Claudia Dodge (Pelham, N.Y.) tied things back up. This would characterize the scoring in the opening quarter, as Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.), Courtney Kaskey (Winnetka, Ill.), Emma Terino (East Meadow, N.Y.), and Erin Jayne (Merrimac, Mass.) scored in succession. Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) closed out the opening quarter with an unassisted goal with five seconds left to help give RWU a 5-4 lead going into the second.

Sarazin added another goal four minutes into the second period. From there, the Hawks would get into a groove, scoring two more unanswered goals from Beck and Karli Chapin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine). Novitch ended the run with a goal at the 6:16 mark, but Norton tallied the final score of the half with 3:37 left, giving the Hawks a 9-5 lead entering halftime.

Campbell Haller (Nashua, N.H.) added to the RWU advantage with a goal at 10:42 to build RWU's lead to five. The Beavers would pull their way back into the game by the end of the third. Jayne scored three times in the quarter to make it an 8-11 game going into the fourth. However, the Hawk defense shut down Babson offense in the final period, holding the Beavers without a goal in the frame. RWU scored three more times in the quarter to take the 14-8 decision.
