How It Happened
Endicott got the drop on RWU early on in the game, scoring three unanswered goals in the first six minutes of play. The Hawks would regain their composure and tie the game up with three straight scores by
Nikki Norton (Braintree, Mass.),
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.), and
Brooke McErlain (Hampton, N.H.) over a two-minute stretch. An Alex Palermo goal put the Gulls back up by one, but RWU added three more goals in a 90-second stretch to go back up by two. However, Endicott close the quarter out with a pair of scores to tie the game at six by the end of the quarter.
Endicott's Kiana Napolitano broke the tie less than a minute into the second quarter. From there, Roger Williams would roll off four straight scores, three of which by
Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.) for a 10-7 lead with 5:28 until halftime. Both squads would trade a pair of goals over the remainder of the period, but RWU still held a 12-9 lead entering the break.
A pair of
Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) goals sandwiched around an Endicott tally put the Hawks up 14-10. Though the Gulls would log the next two scores of the game, the Hawks ended the quarter with three goals over the final 6:41 to take a 17-12 advantage into the final period. In the fourth quarter, though Endicott was able to score three times in the frame, Roger Williams answered each score with three goals to preserve the five-goal lead and claim the win.
