WALTHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team was unable to over come the host Brandeis, in the Hawks first game of the Brandeis Invitational, inside Red Auerbach Arena.
 
Kristen Danserau (Killingworth, Conn.) led Roger Williams with seven kills, followed by Lily Winsten (Rockledge, Fla.) with five, and Jasmine Babbitt (Charlestown, R.I.) who recorded three kills.
 
Off the serve the Hawks recorded four aces with Winsten registering a pair. Emma Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) recorded eight assists off of 20 kills by the Roger Williams squad.
 
After a kill by Babbitt brought the Hawks, brough the Hawks within two in the first set, the Judges scored eight straight points to take control of the first set. The Judges took the first set 25-13 after scoring four straight to seal the set.
 
In the second set, the Hawks and Judges battled back and forth until a 9-9 tie, but Brandeis rattled off six straight points to take control.  The third set saw the Hawks holding a 12-11 lead, before the Judges went on a five-point run, gathering a lead that they would not relinquish. 
 
Roger Williams (0-1, 0-0 CCC) will face Worcester State on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 11 am in their second game of the Brandeis Invitational.  The Hawks will also face Colby-Sawyer in a contest scheduled for 1 pm on Saturday.  The Hawks home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5 when they host both Tufts and Eastern Connecticut State in the Campus Rec Center.
