WALTHAM, Mass. — The Roger Williams University women's soccer team fell Thursday evening at Gordon Field to Brandeis in non-conference action, 3-1.
Facing the No. 4 team in the United Soccer Coaches Region II Poll, the Hawks were unable to overcome the offensive attack of the Judges who outshot Roger Williams 24-2.
Bailey Bourque (Litchfield, N.H.) saved eight shots in the contest.
After failing to convert on their first two shot attempts, the Judges broke the scoreless draw after Briar Grady connected a through ball to Juliette Carreiro, which Carreiro then shook the goalkeeper shooting a shot from the right side of the net, into the goal.
In the second half, Carreiro scored again just under 15 minutes into the contest again. The Hawks then cut the Judges' lead in half with a goal scored by
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) coming off of a pass from
Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.).
The Judges scored 1:16 later, taking a 3-1 lead that they held onto until the end of the match.
Roger Williams (3-5, 0-1 CCC) hosts Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Gordon on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3 pm on Bayside Field. The Hawks will then host Bridgewater State at 7 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
