BIDDEFORD, Maine. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team fell in Commonwealth Coast Conference Action to the University of New England 3-1, (25-20, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16) Saturday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The Nor'easters jumped out to an early lead in the first set and hung on, before repeating the feat in the second set, finding a 25-16 set win.
The Hawks flipped the script in the third set, taking at 6-4 lead off of a kill from
Ella Hohmann (Pethpage, N.Y.) before the Nor'easters leveled the set at 6-6. After going down 17-13 in the third frame, the Hawks rallied for a 25-23 win to push the match to a fourth set.
The Hawks were unable to over come the University of New England in the final frame falling to the Nor'easters, 25-16.
Roger Williams (4-7, 1-1 CCC) will play preseason favorite Endicott on Thursday, sept. 29 at 7 pm in Beverly, Mass. The Hawks will then face Wheaton and Framingham state in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Norton, Mass.
