Mirroring play seen in the first quarter, the teams stayed within points of each other until around halfway through the frame where layups by Elie and Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) put the Hawks up with a five-point lead, 21-16. Minutes later, Roger Williams took the largest lead of the first half following shots put in by Elie and a three-pointer by Nikki Rosa (Nahant, Mass.), resulting in the Rams trailing by six. Efforts by Suffolk shrunk the lead by two, going into the second half trailing, 28-26.
The third quarter saw the Hawks score from eight free-throws and three layups. The frame ended with Roger Williams up, 48-36.
Coming out of the gate in the final quarter, Elie and Galligan made back-to-back layups. MacDonald rounded out scoring for the Hawks on a layup. Roger Williams led Suffolk in rebounds, 28-26, steals, 10-9, and blocks, 6-5.
