Women's Soccer: D'Antonio Scores Twice in Win Over Rams

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams women's soccer team won their final regular season game of the season in shutout fashion against Suffolk , 2-0, on Bayside Field, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

The Hawks took 13 shots, with five of those being on target. The Rams only took six shots, and only two were considered shots on goal. Roger Williams also had five opportunities from the corner, compared to the Ram's two.

Roger Williams was able to obtain the lead in the first half thanks to a couple goals by Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield Mass.). D'Antonio got the scoring started in the seventh minute. After beating a defender to a ball in the air, she took a dribble and delivered a low strike from just inside the 18-yard box. The ball evaded the reach of the Rams' goalie and sailed into the bottom right part of net. D'Antonio was able to put another goal on the board for the Hawks in the 35th minute, taking advantage of a defensive miscue. With the Rams trying to establish possession on the defensive side of the field, she intercepted a pass intended for the Rams goalie. Once again, D'Antonio found herself open and capitalized by scoring her second goal of the game.

At the break, Roger Williams maintained a 2-0 lead over Suffolk. The Hawks held the advantage in both shots (10-5), and shots on goal (5-2). Opportunities from the corner were also controlled by the Hawks, as they had four opportunities compared to the Rams' two. Both teams had played a relatively clean game as well, with no cards having been handed out by the officials.

Throughout the second half, the Roger Williams defense was able to keep the shutout alive. Suffolk had a total of one shot in the second half, which was not on goal. Hawks goalkeeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) accumulated two saves over the course of the game, leading to a Hawks win with a final score of 2-0.

Roger Williams (10-6-4, 5-1-2 CCC) currently awaits the bracket for the CCC Tournament.
