Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team fell to Western New England on Friday at Bayside Field, 2-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
The Hawks took 14 shots, putting 12 on target, while WNE had 10 shots, with eight being on goal. Roger Williams also had took a slight edge in corner kicks with a 4-3 differential.
Sophomore goalkeeper,
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) made six saves in the contest on the shots she faced.
Grace Kelly (Milford, N.H.) had three shots on goal in the match, but was unable to find the back of the net.
WNE's Keara Conroy snuck in a goal off a rebound from a corner kick in the 34
th minute putting the Golden Bears up 1-0 before the half.
The 57
th minute saw WNE's Jordan Pare's shot just beat the out-stretch arms of a diving Marrelli to increase the lead to two.
Roger Williams (5-6-3, 1-1-1 CCC) will be headed to Nichols, to continue CCC play on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 3:00pm. The Hawks will then take a break from conference play to face Worcester State on Thursday, Oct. 12 before resuming conference play against the University of New England on Saturday, Oct. 14.
