SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team fell to Springfield 23-13, in a tightly contested dual meet at Blake Arena in Springfield, Friday evening.
Beginning the match at 285 pounds, the Pride took an early 14-0 lead before Springfield's Ty Stewart earned a pinfall victory at 149 pounds.
The Hawks rebounded with
Ben Bariso (Butler, N.J.) taking a major decision victory at 157 pounds to cut the deficit down to 10.
Anthony Ostrander (Newbury, Mass.) earned a 2-0 victory by decision to add another three points in favor of Roger Williams.
Max Grzymala earned three points back for Springfield, before
Cole Shaughnessy (Fairfield, Conn.) and
Spencer Fetrow (Holliston, Mass.) each added three points each for Roger Williams but it was not enough as Springfield held on.
Roger Williams (2-2 Duals) will be in action at the Scott Viera Open on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 9:00 am in the Field House of the Campus Rec Center. The Hawks will then be off until Saturday, Jan. 6 when they compete at the Williams Open.
