Henniker, NH—The Roger Williams wrestling team won their second match of the day, rising above New England College at an away match Saturday evening, 46-9, after having topped Rhode Island College at home on Saturday morning.
Starting things up for the Hawks was
AJ Menendez (River Vale, N.J.), who ultimately fell to his opponent at 285 pounds. Moving through the weight classes,
Tommy Gallagher (Foxboro, Mass.) was the first of Roger Williams wrestlers to win his match, defeating his opponent by way of fall at 141 pounds. The Hawks took wins in four weight classes by way of fall including
Ben Bariso (Butler, N.J.) at 157,
Cole Shaughnessy (Fairfield, Conn.) at 184, and
Spencer Fetrow (Holliston, Mass.) at 197 pounds.
At the 149-pound division,
Matt Lucas (Danbury, Conn.) was the only one to win by major decision, 14-2.
Roger Williams (20-4) takes on Johnson & Wales on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the first of a series of away matches, competing in the Henry Marsh Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the University of New Hampshire.
