ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team came out of their opening match in Florida with a 6-3 victory over Colby-Sawyer.
The Hawks were able to take No. 3 doubles with
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) and
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) combining for an 8-3 victory over Peyton Meuse and Cohl Schusler.
Roger Williams then went 5-1 in singles play as
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) won his No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-0. A 6-3, 6-3 win by Carroll at No. 2 singles and a
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) victory at No. 3 singles (3-6, 6-3, 10-7) helped to level the match. A win by
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) helped to give the Hawks the edge.
Roger Williams (3-1, 0-0 CCC) will face SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday, Mar. 14 at 3 pm.
