ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team took a 9-0 sweep victory over Franciscan during the team's Spring Break trip to Florida, defeating the Barons at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus.
Beginning the match in singles play,
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) was the first to pick up a win with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 2 doubles.
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) then took his win at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 before a win from
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) also picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) had a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles before,
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) won his No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-3.
In doubles, Baldyga and Schuck combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, the Hawks earned another doubles win with Collins and Trevethan winning their top doubles match 8-2. The Hawks' Glassman and Smith then took a win at No. 3 Doubles, 8-3.
Roger Williams (5-1, 0-0 CCC) faces Wisconsin-La Crosse on Thursday, Mar. 16 at 3:00 pm, closing out Spring Break.
