Medford, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team was downed by New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Tufts, 12-5, at Bello Field.
Tufts jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, before the Hawks responded with a
Karli Chapin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) goal while down a player. Tufts rattled off four more goals before
Julia Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.) scored another goal for the Hawks, after receiving a pass from Chapin.
After another flurry from the Jumbos,
Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.) scored a goal with 5:16 in the frame, the Jumbos scored another before the end of the third to take an 11-3 lead.
The Hawks outscored the Jumbos 2-1 in the final quarter, as the Jumbos held on to the lead.
Roger Williams (3-3, 0-0 CCC) will face Trinity on Sunday, Mar. 19 at 11 am before beginning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Wednesday, Mar. 29 at 6 pm against Western New England.
