MILTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first quarter, as they cruised to a 20-4 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Curry at Walter M. Katz Field.
In the matchup,
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) collected eight draw controls in the matchup, landing her with 200 draw controls in her career. Cavanaugh also scored three goals and dished out an assist for four points.
Brooke McErlain (Hampton, N.H.) and
Julia Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.) each had a game-high five points with two goals and three assists. Cavanaugh,
Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and
Lily Cunningham (Melrose, Mass.) each added three goals.
Beck found Kelley for the first goal of the contest in the opening 1:11 of the game. Curry responded when Grayson Goolgasian found the back of the net to level the score. Roger Williams then rattled off 18 straight goals, before the Colonels scored three straights. The Hawks then saw
Meaghan Holmes (Pembroke, Mass.) score a goal to close the contest with 4:13 remaining.
Roger Williams (5-4, 2-0 CCC) the Hawks will host Colby on Sunday, Apr. 2 at 5 pm before taking on Nichols in CCC play on Tuesday, Apr. 4 at 7 pm in Dudley, Mass. The Hawks will then host Endicott for a Saturday, Apr. 8 at 3 pm.
