BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team closed out their regular season with a 7-2 victory over Endicott on Wednesday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
In doubles play, the Hawks came away with victories by
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.), 8-4, in No. 1 doubles before seeing the Gulls level the score with a 8-6 win in No. 3 doubles.
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) and
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) closed out doubles by giving Roger Williams a 2-1 lead, defeating their opponents, 8-7 (10-8).
In singles play Trevethan earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, but the Gulls took No. 2 doubles in a three-set victory by Nick Brennan. In No. 3 singles, Collins took the victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-4 win, while
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) took No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-2. The Hawks picked up five points in singles play as
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) also picked up wins in No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Roger Williams (14-2, 6-1 CCC) will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament and will face the No. 7 seed Suffolk in the tournament Quarterfinals which are scheduled to begin on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 1 pm.
