BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team is the No. 2 seed headed into the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Tennis Tournament, and will host No. 7 Suffolk in CCC Quarterfinal action on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 1 pm on the RWU Tennis Courts.
The Hawks posted a 14-2 overall record this season, with a 7-1 record within conference action. The Hawks two losses came to top seeded Nichols and Division I opponent Stonehill back in October.
The Hawks No. 1 singles will be highlighted by
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) who has posted an 11-4 record so far this season at No. 1 singles.
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) will serve as the Hawks No. 2 singles competitor after posting a 10-3 record in the spot, throughout the regular season. No. 3 singles will see
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) take the court, with a 9-5 record on the season going 8-4 in No. 3 singles and posting a 1-1 record in No. 2 singles.
After going 10-4 in his singles matches this season
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) will be the Hawks go to at No. 4 singles with
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) serving as the No. 5 singles competitor with a 12-3 record and 9-2 record in the spot.
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) will round out the singles teams for the Hawks going in No. 6 singles with an 11-2 record on the year.
In doubles action, Trevethan and Collins will combine for No. 1 doubles pairing going 11-2 on the season. Carroll and
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) will serve as the Hawks No. 2 doubles pairing with an 11-1 record and 7-1 No. 2 record. Schuck and Glassman will combine for No. 3 doubles with a 4-1 record.
On Suffolk's side, the Rams are 3-7 heading into the CCC Quarterfinals with a 2-6 record within conference play. The Rams have beaten Western New England and Curry on their route to the tournament.
Suffolk will turn to Mehdi Mered at No. 1 singles with a 4-6 record on the season, with Daniel Dayn playing No. 2 singles with a 2-7 record. Hasan Esrawi is the No. 3 singles competitor with Diego Hernandez-Pons, Mikhail Reilly and Milind Kulkarni falling as No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 respectively.
In doubles action Esrawi and Dayn will combine for No. 1 doubles, with Mered and Hernandez-Pons playing No. 2 for Suffolk. The Rams will look to Reilley and Zac Dobbs in No. 3 doubles.
Roger Williams (14-2, 11-4 CCC) will host Suffolk for the CCC Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 1 pm on the RWU Tennis Courts. The winner will advance to the CCC Tournament Semifinals to be played on Wednesday, Apr. 26.
