BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team defeated No. 3 seed Gordon on Wednesday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Semifinal, 5-1, to advance to the Hawks third straight Championship match.
In doubles play, the Hawks took the first points of the match with the No. 3 doubles pairing of
Ryan Shuck (Glasonbury, Conn.) and
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) downing their opponents 8-1. The Fighting Scots rebounded for an 8-5 win in No. 2 doubles, before
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) took their No. 1 doubles match 8-7, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead after the session.
In singles play, the Hawks picked up the third point of the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win by Shuck, before Glassman earned the fourth point of the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles. The clinching point came from
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) who finished his match with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Roger Williams (16-2, 7-1 CCC) will travel to Dudley for the CCC Championship Match against Nichols on a rescheduled date of Friday, Apr. 28 due to inclement weather coming to the New England area.
