BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse used eight first quarter goals to take control of their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup, defeating Salve Regina, 21-4, on Bayside Field.
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) had a team high eight points with six goals and two assists, while also pulling in eight draw controls on the day.
Brooke McErlain (Hampton, N.H.) had six draw controls and seven points with five goals and two assists, while
Julia Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.) tallied her seven points on a a goal and six helpers.
On the defensive end
Kimmy Creegan (Ramsey, N.J.) led the way with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Zoey Cormican (Rochester, N.H.) had six saves with four goals allowed in the tilt.
After the Seahawks took the lead, Roger Williams went on an 8-0 run to end the first quarter with a seven-goal lead. The Seahawks then scored a goal at the 9:39 mark of the second quarter, before rattling off 11 straight goals over a 32:22 span, as they took full control of the contest.
Roger Williams (11-6, 7-1 CCC) will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament and will host a Quarterfinal on Saturday, Apr. 29.
