BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's basketball team announced the hiring of
Cal Connelly as the newest addition to the coaching staff.
"I'm very excited to join the staff at Roger Williams," said Connelly. "This will be a great place for me to learn and grow as a coach, with a staff and program that has been successful in a competitive conference. After visiting the campus and talking with Coach Tully it felt like the right fit, and I can't wait to get to work."
Connelly joins the Hawks after playing for the men's basketball team at Assumption, in Worcester, Mass. He was a four-year starter and a two-year captain for the Greyhounds in the Northeast-10 Conference. Connelly averaged 40.7 percent from the field in his four years with the Greyhounds, with 1.3 assists per game and 2.9 boards per contest.
He has also served as a counselor and trainer for Hoop Mountain New England in 2019, while also working with high school and middle school players with Integrity Hoops.
"We are excited to have Cal join the program. He has the passion, energy, and enthusiasm to make an immediate impact with out student-athletes and program," Head Coach
Mike Tully said. "Cal has been exposed to great coaches as a player and will bring a wealth of experiences to Roger Williams. We feel fortunate to have him join the staff."
Connelly graduated from Assumption with a Business Management degree, with a minor in Sport Management, and looks to complete his MBA at Assumption.
