BRISTOL, RI – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team fell to WPI on Thursday at Bayside Field, 2-0, in a non-conference play
The Hawks took 10 shots, putting nine on target, while WPI had 11 shots, with eight being on goal. Roger Williams also had a resounding seven corner kicks, holding the Engineers to zero in the contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper,
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) made five saves in the contest on the shots she faced.
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) had four shots on goal in the match, but was unable to find back of the net.
WPI wasted no time to start this match, Hannah Wolfgang snuck a goal in against the Hawks just over four minutes into the contest. With just 6:34 left in the first half, Maeve Steckley found Lily Guiliano deep in the Hawks territory, allowing Guiliano to put one into the top right corner.
Halfway through the second half,
Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass) attempted put a ball through to
Bianca Robbins Robbins who had a chance but the Hawks were unable to put a ball past the Engineer goalkeeper.
Roger Williams (1-4-2, 0-0-0 CCC) will be headed to Walter M. Katz Field, to face off against a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival in the Curry on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 2:00pm. The Hawks will then face UMass Boston on Monday, Sept. 25 followed by Bridgewater State on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
