BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division I opponent Stonehill Tuesday afternoon at the RWU Tennis Courts, 9-0, in non-conference action.
In doubles play, the Skyhawks earned an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before the Hawks No. 3 doubles pairing of
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) and
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) battled the pairing for Stonehill, eventually falling, 8-5. The Skyhawks completed the doubles sweep in the No. 1 portion of doubles play, after
Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) and
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) battled Jacob Borch-Nielsen and Mark Kroll to a tiebreaker set.
In singles play the Hawks were swept by Stonehill, as the Skyhawks took the match victory.
Roger Williams (0-2, 0-0 CCC) will face UMass Boston on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 4:00 pm on the RWU Tennis Courts, before rounding out the fall on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Salve Regina in a rescheduled match from Sept. 25.
