BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team played Endicott to a scoreless draw on Saturday, at Hempstead Stadium, 0-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
Endicott outshot the Hawks 16-4, with six shots on target to Roger Williams' one. The Gulls also earned seven corner kicks to the Hawks one.
Sofie Morris (Arlington, Mass.) had the one shot on goal for the Hawks in the contest, while goalkeeper
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) picked up the clean sheet with six saves in 90 minutes of action.
Sabrina Sherman (Brentwood, N.H.) had a pair of shots in the match, with
Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) accounting for the final shot.
The Gulls had a pair of shots in the opening six minutes of the match both of which were saved by Marrelli. The Hawks first opportunity came in the 12
th minute with D'Antonio taking a shot blocked by a defender. Sherman then put a shot wide of the net, in the 15
th minute. Endicott outshot the Hawks 7-2 in the opening half.
In the second half Endicott was able to control play as they again outshot Roger Williams 9-2 in the half, but the Hawks were able to hang tough defensively as they closed out the match with the draw.
Roger Williams (4-5-3, 1-0-1 CCC) will host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 pm before hosting Western New England on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6:00 pm in CCC action.
