NORTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team fell to Wheaton on Wednesday at Mirrione Stadium, 4-1, in their first road contest of the season.
The Hawks took 19 shots, putting 11 on target, while Wheaton had 20 shots with eight inside the frame. The Hawks also lead in corner kicks, 8-3.
Just over 23 minutes into the contest, Kate Wickenheisser, struck first with a goal coming off a ball from Raquel Garces. Less than 10 minutes later, Wickenheisser scored her second goal of the match with a ball that entered the netting at the 32:38 mark of the first half. Wheaton would hold Roger Williams scoreless in the opening frame.

Sofie Morris (Bristol, R.I.) for a goal, cutting the lead in half. Wickenheisser then completed her hat trick with a goal in the 73
rd minute, for her fourth goal of the season. A few minutes later Lily Brown scored, as the Lyons picked up a 4-1 win.
Roger Williams (1-1-1, 0-0-0 CCC) will host Brandeis on Friday, Sept. 8 at 4:00 pm, before playing MIT on the road Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 4:00 pm. The Hawks will then play their first CCC matchup of the season, with the University of Hartford coming to visit for the first time in program history.
