BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team faced Fitchburg State at home on Tuesday afternoon, drawing 1-1.
Throughout the match, the Hawks had 19 shots, eight of which landed on goal compared to the Falcons' three shots throughout the match, two of which were placed on frame. For corners, the Hawks had nine corner kicks to the Falcons four throughout the game.
In the first half of the game, the Hawks had nine shots, three of which came from freshman
Kaitlyn Alagno (Oxford, Conn.). We also saw two shots from sophomore
Simone Cassano (Schenectady, N.Y.) and other players made their attempts as well.
During the second half of the match, in the 69th minute, the Hawks landed the first goal of the game, by sophomore
Sarah Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.) assisted by Alagno. The Hawks dominated the game with Fogarty taking two more shots in the half as well as two shots each from junior
Sophie Scerbin (Westborough, Mass.) and graduate student
Raffaella Brunetti (North Providence, R.I.). In total, the Hawks had ten shots in the second half of the match. The Falcons retaliated in the 89th minute with an equalizing goal by Adrianna Westcott.
The Roger Williams Hawks (6-2-3, 0-0-2 CNE) will be hitting the road again to face off against Gordon at the Brigham Athletic Complex in Wenham, Mass. Saturday, Oct 5th at 12:00 pm in their next CNE matchup before they travel up to Worcester State's John Coughlin Memorial Field in Worcester, Mass. for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, Oct 9th at 7:00 pm.
