PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Roger Williams men's swim team raced against Providence College (PC) for their first matchup of the 2024-25 season.
In the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay,
Carter Brown (Lake Ridge, Va.),
Riley Williams (Arvada, Colo.),
Dylan Gourlay (Mount Kisco, N.Y.), and
Vince Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with the fastest time out of the RWU participants. They swam the Medley in 1:48.88, finishing behind PC in the event.
In the fourth event of the day,
Carter Brown finished fourth in the 800 SC Meter Freestyle, slotting in behind three PC swimmers. Brown finished the event with a time of 9:46.09.
Riley Williams swam once again for the Hawks, this time in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle, where he placed fourth in the event, atop the rankings for Hawk swimmers. He finished with a time of 2:00.96.
The next event the men participated in was the 100 SC Backstroke.
Jonathan Smith (East Greenwich, R.I.) and
Simon Rosinski (York, Maine) rounded out the top five in the event for Roger Williams, finishing in 1:07.38 and 1:14.51, respectively.
In the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke
Owen Kasper finished atop the standings for the Hawks, racing in 1:12.22.
In the 200 SC Meter Butterfly,
Luke Austin (Essex Junction, Vt.) and
Dylan Gourlay finished behind PC, finishing in 2:23.94 and 2:24.66, respectively.
Vince Tarolli led the way for the Hawks in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle, finished third behind two Friar swimmers.
Vince Tarolli and Skip Holmes (Dartmouth, Mass.) slotted inside the top 10 in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle, finished sixth and eighth in the event. Tarolli finished the race in 55.71, and Holmes finished in 56.91.
In the Men 200 SC Meter Breaststroke,
Riley Williams topped the leaderboard, with a time of 2:26.02. William Bonvissuto (Garden City, N.Y.) and
Corin Patel (Cypress, Texas) slotted in behind Williams to round out the top five of the event.
In the Men 100 SC Meter Butterfly,
Drew Hebert (Melrose, Mass.) finished atop the leaderboard for the Hawks, finishing the event with a time of 1:02.03 which was good for fifth place, behind four PC swimmers.
In the last event of the day, the Men 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, the unit that included
Vince Tarolli, Skip Holmes, Conner Poetsch, and
Riley Williams finished third behind two Friar units. They finished with a time of 1:40.40.
