BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams women's soccer team defeated Nichols College on the Hawks Senior Day at Bayside Field
It was a dominant performance from the start for the Hawks, as they wasted no time getting on board via a Rachet Oster (Scituate, R.I.) goal. The goal came just 46 seconds into the game, as both
Sarah Baptista (Smithfield, R.I.) and
Simone Cassano (Schenectady, N.Y.) found the senior Oster. Oster was just getting started, as she netted another goal at the 25-minute mark, once again from
Sarah Baptista giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead.
Kaitlyn Alagno (Oxford, Conn.) got in on the first half scoring as well, on a feed from Oster, pushing the ladies to a quick 3-0 start over the Bison. Alagno also was not done scoring just yet, as she dropped in another goal with just 13 seconds remaining in the half, bringing the Hawks lead to 4-0 at the half.
To begin the second half,
Rachel Oster dropped in her third goal of the game, giving her a hattrick on senior day. This is the third time this season Oster has recorded a hattrick, bringing her to a team high nine goals on the year. Roger Williams went on to handle the Bison, as they coasted to a 5-0 victory, giving the seniors a senior day victory. The win goes down as the first conference victory for the Hawks, moving them to 1-2-3 in CNE action.
Individually, outside of Oster it was freshman
Kaitlyn Alagno who netted two goals of her own, both of which came in the first half.
Sarah Baptista, Gracie Vieria (Cumberland, R.I.),
Simone Cassano, and
Rachel Oster each recorded an assist in the matchup, with Baptista leading the way with two. Hawks goalkeepers
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) and
Bailey Bourque (Litchfield, N.H.) combined for seven saves in net, securing the shared shutout.
Roger Williams (7-4-5, 1-2-3 CNE) will travel to Boston to take on Wentworth on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4:00 PM.
