Men’s Tennis: Roger Williams Sweeps Salve Regina

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team swept Salve Regina for the 15th time in program history on Wednesday, defeating the Seahawks, 7-0, in non-conference action.
 
This is the 18th straight victory for the Hawks over the Seahawks, with Roger Williams leading the all-time series, 28-19.
 
In doubles play, the Hawks opened with a 6-0 victory by Ike Rodriguez Alcocer (Nuacalpan de Juarez, Mexico) and Tucker Taylor, before Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) and Camden Poitras completed the same feat at No. 2 doubles to clinch the point. Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) and Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned a 6-2 victory over Jacob Faulise and Samuel Middleton.
 
In singles action, the Hawks went up 2-0 in the match after Carroll defeated Alexander Colon 6-0, 6-1. Poitras then followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No.3 singles before DeSisto clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the top spot.
 
Taylor had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles before Rodriguez Alcocer picked up a No. 5 singles win 6-1, 6-0. Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) then completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
 
Roger Williams (2-1, 0-0 CNE) will host Bridgewater State on Monday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 pm at the RWU Tennis Courts to round out the fall season.
