BABSON PARK, MASS. – The Roger Williams women's basketball team fell to Babson 72-57 in their second game of the 24-25 season.
The difference in this one was the first quarter, as the Hawks were outscored 23-9 to begin the game, which proved to be too big of a deficit to overcome. The Beavers expanded on their lead even further before heading into half, giving them a 39-19 lead. The Hawks came out of the half much stronger, outscoring the Beavers 38-33 in the half, however the first half deficit was too much to overcome, with the Beavers outlasting the Hawks 72-57 for their second win of the season.
Babson's strong shooting helped propel their victory, as they shot 50% from the field and 44% from three-point range compared to Roger Williams 34% mark from the field and 37% from three. The Beavers outrebounded the Hawks 36-27 in the matchup.
Individually,
Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) and E. Dufrane (Falls Church, VA.) led the way in the scoring department for the Hawks, netting 13 and 12 points respectively. Dufrane chipped in three steals as well.
For the Beavers, Emily Flynn and Samantha Reale led the scoring with 18 a piece. Flynn shot 7-8 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range, adding nine boards, good for the game high. Reale added four assists, also a game high.
Roger Williams (0-2) will be right back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Salve Regina in non-conference action.
