Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's basketball team defeated Wentworth in their first matchup of conference play, 81-69.
 
Wentworth took control of the game early, opening the game with a 10-0 run in just two and a half minutes of play. Roger Williams cut the deficit to five, before the Leopards brought the lead back to nine before halftime. Roger Williams opened the second frame with a 9-2 run, bringing the score to 41-39 just two minutes into the half. Wentworth held onto their narrow lead for the next eight minutes until Mac Annus knocked down a free throw to give the Hawks a 57-56 lead with nine minutes to play. Once taking the lead for the first time the Hawks never looked back, going on to win the battle 81-69.
 
The Hawks knocked down 11 three pointers in the second half to Wentworth's zero, shooting 50% on the 22 attempts. The Leopards outrebounded the Hawks 44-28. The Hawks dished out 22 assists to the Leopards 11.
 
Individually, Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) paced the Hawks in scoring with 31 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) chipped in 17 of his own, adding six rebounds as well. Phillip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.) filled up the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. For the Leopards Tyler Stewart poured in 25 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
 
 
With the win, Roger Williams moves to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in Conference of New England action. The Hawks will travel to Nichols on Saturday, Dec. 7 for their next matchup, before wrapping up the semester at home against Curry on Dec. 10.
