WEST HARTFORD, Conn.. – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Regular Season Champions, after defeating Hartford on Saturday Afternoon, 21-6, at Hartford University.
Kimmy Creegan had 8 points, after her season high game scoring 8 goals in the contest. Julia Kelley had ten points in the game scoring four goals and having six assists. Emma Terino had four points in the contest followed by Karli Chapin who had two.
Defensively Kate Shultz had one caused turnovers with one ground ball to lead the defense, while Kimmy Creegan earned 11 draw controls.
The game started tight with Hartford scoring first and the Hawks open scoring by Creegan shortly after in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter the score was 5-4.
The Hawks would then proceed to go on a 15 goal scoring run from the beginning of the second to the end of the game. In total the Hawks outscored the Hartford hawks 21-6 by the end of the game. Hartford scored two goals with 3:00 minutes left in the contest bringing their total score to six.
Roger Williams (9-7, 7-0 CCC) locked up the regular-season championship for the CCC and will be looking ahead to the CCC playoffs with the first game at Bayside Field.
