WESTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team closed out their regular season slate on Sunday, defeating Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Rivers School Tennis Courts.
In doubles action,
Matt Glassman and
Johnny Baldyga earned the first point of the match with an 8-4 victory, before
Konnor Collins and
Camden Poitras followed with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match of
Ryan Carroll and
Will Hulrbut against Daniel Gallegos and Rene Rodriguez, also went in favor of the Hawks with an 8-4 victory.
In singles play, Hurlbut took the first point winning his match at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3, before Poitras sealed the match in favor of the Hawks with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. At No. 1 singles, Carroll had a 6-0, 6-3 victory ahead of Baldyga who earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
Cooper Brown and Collins closed out the match with 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 7-5 wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles respectively.
Roger Williams (13-4, 6-1 CCC) will await the bracket for the CCC Tournament to be released at the conclusion of the conference's regular season slate on Monday.
