BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team defeated Colby-Sawyer, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon at the RWU Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, Camden Poitras and Konnor Collins picked up the No. 2 doubles win 8-4 before Ryan Carroll and Will Hurlbut then added a win over the Chargers No. 1 doubles pairing. Johnny Baldyga and Matt Glassman added an 8-7 win, winning 7-5 in the tiebreaker to complete the doubles sweep.
The Hawks then picked up the win at No. 3 singles with Poitras defeating Aidan Jensen, 6-2, 6-4, before Carroll then clinched the match with a win at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5. Peyton Meuse picked up the lone point of the match for Colby-Sawyer at No. 2 singles, before Collins, Hurlbut, and Cooper Brown completed their matches with wins for the Hawks.
Roger Williams (9-3, 2-0 CCC) will face Curry in Milton on Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 3:30 pm. The Hawks will then host Gordon on Thursday, Apr. 11 at 4:00 pm as they continue Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
