FRAMINGHAM, MASS. - The Roger Williams University women's soccer team defeated Framingham State on Friday afternoon, winning their first matchup, 7-0, away on Maple Street Field.

The Hawks started the game off strong with
Rachel Oster (Scituate, R.I.) quickly setting the tone for the game putting away the first goal of the matchup assisted by sophomore forward
Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) after only one minute of the game. Oster went on to become the top goal scorer for the game, claiming her first hat-trick of the season within the first thirty minutes of the game.

Shortly after, in the sixth minute, D'Antonio made a run by herself, scoring a lofted ball to the back of the net. Later in the first half,
Gracie Vieira (Cumberland, R.I.) put away a corner kick by
Simone Cassano (Schenectady, N.Y.) and the Hawks closed out the first half of the matchup having logged seven shots on target, five of which became goals.

At the start of the second half, just eight minutes in, D'Antonio put away another opportunity and brought the score to six goals for the Hawks. D'Antonio logged three shots on goal for the Hawks, two of which resulted in goals.
Eryn Parlin (New Sharon, Maine) logged two shots, one of which prompted a save from the Rams goalkeeper, Madison Magone.

Defensively, the Hawks performed well with both goalkeepers,
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield,Conn.) and
Bailey Bourque (Litchfield,N.H.), successfully blocking all shot attempts from the Rams throughout the game.

Also a goal scorer this match,
Lauren Yokell (Berkley, Mass.) scored the seventh goal for the Hawks and put her name on the scoreboard. In the last few seconds of the game, the Hawks earned a penalty kick which was taken by
Casey Donnelly (Norwalk, Conn.) and was saved by Magone to end off the match.

Roger Williams (1-0, 0-0 CNE) will be away again on Sunday, Sep. 1 at 1:00pm where they will take on Salve Regina in Newport, R.I. before they will host Anna Maria at home on Bayside Field on Tue Sep. 3 at 7:00pm.
