EASTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis saw
Iker Rodriguez Alcocer (Naacalpan de Juarez, Mexico) and
Tucker Taylor combine to take the top spot in their group, as the Hawks opened up their season at the Stonehill Doubles Tournament.
In group four, Rodriguez and Taylor earned a 5-0 victory in their opening match, before taking down Wheaton's Daniel Kofman and Jack Thain, 5-3. The pairing then took their lone loss of the tournament, falling 5-4, to teammates
Steven Mathew (Bayport, N.Y.) and
Cooper Brown (Plano, Texas).
In the second group, the Hawks saw
Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) dropped their opener against Charlie Robertson and Valentin Riveros, 5-4. But the pairing rebounded for wins against Stonehill's Mateo Mallen and Wheaton's Pablo Munoz and Paul Berleaux.
Roger Williams saw a third place finish in group three and rounded out the final groups in group one and five.
Roger Williams will host Clark on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 12:00 pm on the RWU Tennis Courts. The Hawks will then face off against Wheaton on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4:00 pm, before rounding out their fall on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 3:00 pm.
