Women's Soccer: Hawks Overcome Bridgewater State

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team faced Bridgewater State in a physical game at home on Wednesday afternoon, defeating them 2-1.
 
The Hawks had five shots, four of which were on target, throughout the game whereas the Bears had 12 shots and only five made it on frame. As for corner kicks, the Hawks had just three during the match up compared to the Bears' eight.
 
The two goals in this match came from graduate student and team captain Raffaella Brunetti (North Providence, R.I.) and junior Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.), the pair not only scored a goal each, but they assisted each other on the other goal for the Hawks during the match.
 
Brunetti scored the first goal, just over a minute into the match up, off of a driven cross into the six-yard box, by Robbins, which she was able to get on the end of and quickly put away. Robbins' goal came off a well-placed through ball by Brunetti around the 32nd minute. Robbins also had two shots for the Hawks, one of which resulted in the second goal of the match up. Senior Sabrina Sherman (Brentwood, N.H.) also had two shots throughout the game, both of which were placed on target.
 
The Roger Williams Hawks (6-2-1, 0-0-1 CNE) will go on to face Hartford on the road on Saturday, Sept 28th at 12:00 pm on Al-Marzook Field in West Hartford, Conn. for their second CNE match up of the 2024 season before returning home to Bayside Field where they will host Fitchburg State on Tuesday, Oct 1 at 4:00 pm.
