MIDDLETOWN, CONN. – The Roger Williams University men's swimming team opened the spring season off in Middletown, Conn. in a dual meet with both Wesleyan and Springfield.
Starting off in the 200 Medley Relay, the Hawks'
Dylan Gourlay (Mount Kisco, N.Y.),
Riley Williams (Arvada, Colo.),
Seth Sutton (Dumfries, Va.),
Blake Anderson (Seekonk, Mass.) swam to a third-place finish, finishing with a time of 1:36.25. In the 1650 Freestyle event, the Hawks'
Cam Hog (Bridgewater, Mass.) swam to a fourth-place finish with a time of 17:56.45.
In the 50 freestyle, the Hawks' Anderson swam again for the Hawks, earning a second-place finish with a time of 21.89. For the 100 freestyle,
Vince Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y.) swam for Roger Williams, earning a second place by finishing in 48.86. In the 200 freestyle,
Connor Poetsch (Randolph, N.J.) earned a fourth-place finish for the Hawks with a time of 1:51.92. In the 500 freestyle, Gourlay earned a second place finish for Roger Williams, ending in 5:01.59.
In the 50 backstroke event, the Hawks'
Carter Brown (Lake Ridge, Va.) finished in third place with a time of 25.77. For the 100 backstroke, Brown swam again and found a second place finish having a time of 56.88.
In the 50 breaststroke,
Luke Austin (Essex Junction, Vt.) swam for the Hawks, landing a second place finish with a time of 27.76. For the 100 breaststroke, Williams found a first-place finish, completing the event with a time of 58.32.
Moving on to butterfly events, in the 100 butterfly, the Hawks' Sutton swam again landing a second place finish for Roger Williams in 53.91, with Gourlay right behind him in third place with a time of 54.69. In the 50 butterfly, the Hawks'
Drew Hebert (Melrose, Mass.), earned the Hawks a fifth-place finish, ending with a time of 24.74.
Finally, in the 100 Individual Medley, the Hawks' Williams swam again, earning a first-place finish in 53.00 flat. In the 400 freestyle relay event, the Hawks earned a fourth-place finish after Tarolli,
James Guilmette (Johnston, R.I.), Gourlay and Anderson finished the event in 3:18.02.
The Hawks will next host the first day of Tech Sprints on Friday, Jan 24th at 4:00 pm at home in Bristol, R.I., before making their way up to Worcester, Mass. at WPI for the second day of the event.
