Men's Swimming: Hawks Perform Against WPI and Celebrate Four in Senior Day

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's swimming team hosted the first day of Tech Sprints on Friday.
 
At this meet, the Hawks' celebrated four of their teammates for their final home meet in senior day, Gareth Campbell (Duxbury, Mass.), Jonathan Smith (East Greenwich, R.I.), Seth Sutton (Dumfries, Va.), and Vince Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y.).
 
In the 400 yard freestyle relay, Roger Williams' Blake Anderson (Seekonk, Mass.), Tarolli, Sutton, and Riley Williams (Arvada, Colo.) earned a first place finish, starting the Hawk's off well, finishing the race with a time of 3:11.71.
 
Williams represented the Hawks again in the 100 yard breaststroke event, earning another win for the Hawks with a time of 58.97. For the 50 yard backstroke event, Sutton swam for the second time for the Hawks, acquiring yet another win for the team with a time of 24.95.
In the 100 yard freestyle event, Anderson represented the team, swimming to a 49.93 and earning a second place finish.
 
The Hawks' Sutton swam again in the 50 yard butterfly event, finding a second place finish with a time of 23.85, Dylan Gourlay (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) finishing just behind him in third with a 24.04. Carter Brown (Lake Ridge, Va.) earned yet another first for the team in the 100 yard backstroke race, ending with a time of 54.39. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Hawks' Williams, Sutton, Tarolli, and Anderson competed as a team again, swimming to a second place finish with a time of 1:29.07.
 
Roger Williams' Smith earned a second place finish with a time of 54:08, Drew Hebert (Melrose, Mass.) finishing in third with 54.19. For the 50 yard freestyle event, the Hawks' Anderson found a third place finish for the team, completing the event in 22.76. Next in the 50 yard breaststroke event, the Hawks' Sutton finished with another first place, ending with a time of 27.86.
 
In the 100 yard Individual Medley, Williams earned a first place finish for the Hawks, completing the event with a time of 54.88. For the 200 yard freestyle event, Connor Poetsch (Randolph, N.J.), earned a second place finish with a time of 1:50.61. Lastly, in the 200 yard Medley Relay event, the Hawks' Smith, Sutton, Tarolli and Campbell earned the top spot in the final event of the day with a time of 1:39.58.
 
The Hawks will next travel up to WPI on Saturday, Jan 25th to compete in the second day of the event.
