NEWPORT, R.I. - The Roger Williams University men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season with a 7-0 sweep of Salve Regina on Thursday afternoon at the Salve Regina Tennis Courts.
The Hawks (2-1) secured the doubles point with victories in all three flights. At No. 1, Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) and Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) defeated Jacob Faulise and Kole Pinto 6-1. At No. 2, Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) and Tucker Taylor (Gonzales, Texas) topped Colin Fleet and Finn Wasmer 6-1, while Cooper Brown (Plano, Texas) and Steven Mathew (Bayport, N.Y.) blanked Mason Mizula and Rei Otake 6-0 at No. 3.
Carrying a 1-0 lead into singles, Roger Williams dominated across the board. DeSisto beat Pinto 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Carroll blanked Fleet 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Taylor earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Faulise at No. 3, while Mathew added a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Wasmer at No. 4. Hurlbut swept J.J. Hawkshead 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and Brown closed the day with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Otake at No. 6.
Salve Regina (0-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) will host Bard on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 12:00 pm to round out the fall season.
Roger Williams (2-1, 0-0 CNE) will round out the rest of their season in the spring semester.
