BRISTOL, R.I. – Head Women's Basketball Coach Kelly Thompson has announced the addition of Dr. Chantrell Frazier to the coaching staff for the upcoming Roger Williams University Women's Basketball season.
A native of Tampa, Fla., Frazier joins the program after serving as a professor at the University since the Fall 2024 semester. Frazier is currently an Assistant Professor of Forensic Science.
Athletically, Frazier most recently was a walk-on at Division I Savannah State, appearing in 51 games over the course of two years, including four starts. Frazier played high school football at Jefferson High School, starting for the varsity team for four years, and won district championships in all four seasons with the Dragons. Frazier's team reached at least the elite eight in the state tournament in each of her four seasons.
Prior to joining Roger Williams as a professor, Frazier spent two years at Framingham State as an Assistant professor, while also spending time from 2016-22 in a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at Florida International University.
"I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Frazier to the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball staff," said Thompson. "A former Division I Player, Dr. Frazier brings an incredible wealth of knowledge, insight, energy, and enthusiasm to our program. What's even better is that she is already a valued member of the campus community, serving as a Professor of Forensic Science. Her unique blend of high-level athletic experience and academic expertise will be a huge assist to our student-athletes, both on and off the court."
Frazier graduated from Savannah State in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, before completing her Doctor of Philosophy degree with a focus in Biochemistry in April 2022.
