BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 0-0 draw against Wentworth on Tuesday night at Bayside Field, securing the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth New England (CNE) Tournament.
The Hawks controlled much of the play, outshooting Wentworth 24–7 and earning 12 corner kicks to the Leopards' three, but were unable to find the back of the net despite generating multiple second-half chances.
Elizabeth Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) led the attack with six shots, including two on target, while Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) and Sarah Newman (Sayville, N.Y.) each added five and two shots, respectively. Simone Cassano (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) also contributed offensively with early pressure in the opening half.
Goalkeeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) recorded four saves to earn her 10th shutout of the season, while Wentworth's Shyla Kulesza stood tall in net with eight saves to preserve the scoreless draw.
Roger Williams finishes the regular season at 10-2-6 overall and 5-1-4 in conference play, while Wentworth concludes at 7-5-7 and 2-5-3. The Hawks will open CNE Tournament play on the road in the quarterfinals later this week.
