Women’s Volleyball: Hawks Defeat Gulls For First Time Since 2018

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team picked up a key conference win Friday night, taking down Endicott in four sets (25-23, 27-25, 26-28, 25-16). Behind dominant net play and balanced scoring, the Hawks improved to 3-0 in Conference of New England action.

The win marked the first win for an RWU Women's Volleyball squad over Endicott since, November 1, 2018, with the Hawks coming out victorious in a 3-2 (25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 21-25, 15-12) thriller in Beverly.

In the opening set, the Hawks held off a late Endicott surge to secure a narrow 25-23 win. The second frame followed a similar script, with both sides trading points before RWU edged the Gulls 27-25 in extra play. Endicott kept the match alive in the third, capitalizing late for a 28-26 decision. But Roger Williams responded with authority, with a 25-16 victory in the fourth to close out the match.

The Hawks finished with 48 kills on a .158 hitting percentage, while holding Endicott to a .064 clip. RWU controlled the net, nearly doubling the Gulls in blocks, 14.0 to 7.0, and added five service aces.

Individually, Kaydence Fish (Bedford, N.H.) powered the front row with nine kills at a .333 clip and added two service aces along with nine blocks. Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) led the offense with 12 kills, chipped in 14 digs, and contributed two blocks. Izzy Unsworth (Milford, N.H.) added 10 kills, three block assists, and 10 digs.

Roger Williams (7-8, 3-0 CNE) returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 8, when they host Johnson & Wales (R.I.) for another conference matchup.
