WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team competed in its first duals of the season on Saturday at Williams, defeating Bridgeport, 41-9, before falling 55-0 to the hosts.
Against Bridgeport, the Hawks opened with a win by CJ Wood (Haverhill, Mass.) who earned the win for the Hawks by pin. The wins kept rolling as Gavin McKenna (Kingston, Mass.) earned a win by tech fall, ahead of Matthew Castillo (Port Washington, N.Y.) who did the same
The Hawks earned another win by pin as Jack Forte (Westbury, N.Y.) picked up a victory, while Eric Power (Roslinsdale, Mass.) followed with a win of his own. The Hawks earned two wins via forfeit totaling 12 points, with three losses one by decision and two by major decision to put the final at 40-11.
Against the Ephs, the Hawks were unable to earn a point, with Matt Gish (Cromwell, Conn.) falling by major decision 13-1.
Roger Williams (1-1, 0-1 NEWA) will compete next on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 12:00 pm at WPI when they take on Norwich, Emmanuel, and St. John Fisher in duals.
