SPARTANSBURG, S.C. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team will see Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) and Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I.) take the main stage at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships at the Roger Milliken Center.
This is the second straight year the Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team has sent multiple runners to nationals, with Tassey being joined last year by teammate Dylan Beggins.
It is Tassey's third straight appearance at the NCAA National Championships, after earning his second straight Mideast Regional title. Tassey has been a two-time All-American in Cross Country, finishing 22nd nationally in 2023 and fourth in 2024. Tassey has been a four-time Conference of New England (CNE) Runner of the Year, taking the top spot in the conference championships each season.
Tassey currently holds the top time in RWU history in the 8K, finishing the 2023 Regional Championships with a time of 24:03.4 at the Mideast Regional Championships last season. Tassey posted a National Championship time of 24:08.9, landing in fourth, seven seconds behind Christian Patzka, the eventual champion.
This will be Evans first appearance at nationals, after finishing the Mideast Regional in 31st, with a time of 25:6.4. Evans competed earlier this season, on the course in Spartansburg, finishing 65th overall in the field, with a 27:13.8 time to kick off the season.
Evans has brought in recognition of his own, as a two-time All-Region runner, and will make his debut after finishing as the Hawks' No. 2 runner in the CNE Championships, placing second, and the Mideast Regional Championship. Evans finished just off the cusp of a national selection last season, finishing 32nd at regionals in 2024. Evans' top collegiate 8K time in cross country is 25:31.5 at the regionals in 2024.
The NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Championship will kick off at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 22.
