SPARTANSBURG, S.C. – Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) and Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I.) competed at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Championships, with Tassey completing the event by earning his third straight All-American Honor.
Tassey opened the race with a split of 2:44.4 in the opening of the race, finding eighth. Tassey dropped to 11th after 4K of the race, finishing in 11:51.7. Tassey then slowly climbed a place or two over the next 4K, gaining at least a spot each 1K. Tassey closed out with a final 1K split of 2:40.8, finishing his race in 23:54.3, setting a new school record and personal best, improving on his 2024 Mideast Regional Championship appearance.
Tassey placed sixth overall in the field, with Johns Hopkins Emmanuel Leblond in 23:35.0 being named the National Champion. Mohammed Bati of Augsburg placed second, with Cornell College's Isaac Vanwestrienen placing third, finishing in 23:39.8 just 0.2 behind Bati for second. Ryan Hagan and Grant Matthai finished their races in 23:52.7 and 23:53.7 respectively, rounding out the top five ahead of Tassey.
For Evans, He placed 286th, finishing the course in 27:22.3. Evans opened the race after a 2:56.1 split had him in 153rd, but slowly the splits extended over the course of his race. Evans dropped to 286th after the final 1K and finished his split by 3:35.0.
For Tassey, he finishes his collegiate cross-country career as the top runner in program history, holding multiple times in the school's top 10, a three-time All-Region Honoree, and three-time All-American. For Evans, he completed his first NCAA National Championship in either Men's Cross Country or Track & Field.
