Men’s Ice Hockey: UMass Boston Downs Hawks in Non-Conference Tilt

BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Ice Hockey team fell to the Beacons of UMass Boston on Saturday afternoon, 7-1, in non-conference action.
 
The Hawks won 34-of-65 faceoff opportunities, while blocking 20 shots to the Beacons' 16. UMass Boston was able to kill three penalties, while the Hawks were able to do the same with their two opportunities.
 
UMass Boston controlled the pace, scoring 7:54 into the match, when Chris Merryman tallied the first goal, before Jakob Teply scored 1:33 later, Chris Repmann scored the first of his three goals of the night with 2:58 remaining in the opening frame.
 
After Jack Mortson tacked one on in the second, Repmann responded with back-to-back goals in the third, putting the Beacons up 6-0, before Michael Lynch finished with a goal with 8:03 remaining in regulation.
 
Nicholas Rooney (Tampa, Fla.) scored his fourth goal of the season off helpers from Colin Kwak (Alpharetta, Ga.) and TJ Sullivan (Melrose, Mass.) in the loss.
 
Jacob Jaslow made 43 saves with seven goals allowed, while Connor McDonough made 32 saves in 33 attempts.
 
Roger Williams (3-7-0, 2-5-0 CNE) will host Southern New Hampshire University before breaking until the 2026 calendar year when they travel to Framingham State on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 8:50 pm.
