HAMPTON, Va. – The Roger Williams University Men's and Women's Swimming Teams are set to begin competition on Thursday at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJCA) Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Men's Swimming team finished fifth place In the squad's inaugural season in the NJAC, while the Women's Swimming team placed eighth. This year's event will begin on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 PM with 3 meter diving prelims. The late session on Thursday will consist of the women's and men's 800 freestyle relay and the 3 meter diving finals.
The following day will begin at 9:30 am with the sprint freesyles and IM Races taking place. The Hawks enter with the third seeded time of 1:24.18, behind Salisbury and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). In the 50 freestyle
Blake Anderson is seeded 7
th with a time of 21.05, while
Seth Sutton also sits inside the top 10 seed times with a 21.14. In the men's 200 IM,
Riley Williams currently sits third with a seed time of 1:52.27, while the women's freestyle seeds
Gabby Carr slotted fifth with a 24.47 time.
On Saturday the Mid-Distance events will take center stage, with
Riley Williams sitting fourth with a seeded time of 4:02.37. In the women's 400 IM
Kate Wieler will lead the way for Roger Williams with a seeded time of 4:47.87while
Maggie Carroll will also take part with a 4:57.78.
The men's and women's 200 medley relay are both ranked in the top 10, with the men's top squad ranking fourth, while the women's relay squad sits 7
th.
Sunday will wrap with the distance freestyle and breaststroke and butterfly mid-distance relays.
