KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team swept, the Eagles of the University of Northwestern, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Oak Street Park.
The Hawks swept doubles play with the No. 2 doubles team of
Camden Poitras and
Will Hurlbut defeating Ian Barber and Isaac Thomford 6-3. The Hawks then took the No. 3 doubles match, 6-2, with
Iker Rodriguez Alcocer and
Tucker Taylor combining for the win, before No. 1 pairing
Bronson DeSisto and
Ryan Carroll downed their opponents 6-3.
In singles play, Taylor took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 Singles, but Poitras had a win at No. 1 singles to pull the Hawks within a point of clinching the match. At No. 3 singles
Johnny Baldyga took the match 7-5, 6-2 clinching the match for the Hawks.
Will Hurlbut took No. 5 singles, while Rodriguez Alcocer and
Konnor Collins swept their matches at No. 4 and No. 6 singles respectively to seal the sweep.
Roger Williams (5-1, 0-0 CNE) will face Marywood and Coast Guard on Tuesday, Mar. 11 beginning at 11:00 am.
